Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, dancer, and singer. Early Broadway role titles are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to her for the character of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned actors and directors in stage film and television and she keeps working on that award-winning project with various new projects in the pipeline. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22nd and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently filming on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. This is undoubtedly a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This show is being directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford previously starred as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment inspired by the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons of the hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie on You Can't Take It with You. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her performance as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she won an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
